A modern bedroom is a model which is loyal to the classic designs of the past while coping up with innovative ones of contemporaneity. While classicism consists in solid coluring, fantasy, and magnificence that awe you, contemporaneity means practicality, directness, and simplicity that wow you. Integrating both trends when selecting your furniture, furnishings, and colouring will give you your targeted modern bedroom.
Initially, furniture should be compatible with the size of your bedroom and your prioritized needs. First, you can choose the large, regular, four-side bed, modernizing it with straight lines or abstract prints. Alternatively, there is the fashionable low-profile bed shaped as a circle, oval, heart, star, etc., or the unprecedented model of platform beds with no headboards at all. Then, you can have a clothing closet, dresser with faux drawers, chest of drawers, nightstand, and maybe an ottoman chair only if your bedroom is grand. If not, get a feasible clothing closet with real drawers and a mirror to save space and enjoy simplicity. To keep modern and simple, use the brown wood for furniture, but make your largest items light-coloured and put the largest one against the longest wall.
As for furnishings, make your fabrics and accessories as modern and elegant as possible. For instance, use geometrical and zigzag patterns for bedspreads, rugs and mats. Don’t get too liberal with accessories: just few long-lined glass vases with single roses. To add an objet d’art like artistic window blinds, tapestry, or painting that display fancy or nature scenes, or creative geometrical shapes.
The third theme of a modern bedroom is colouring and lights. You can use the modern chocolate brown with its varying gradations. Or, use the classic black and white, blended with the lively, shining red and blue. To keep the air of grandeur and brilliancy, make sure of lighting every part of your room. You can have a normal single tube lamp which is bright enough so that the light is distributed well. Another choice is using additional lamp shades bulbs at the right locations to keep brightness everywhere. Also, you can make use of mirrors to reflect light and even double the space.
