Kidneys are one of the most vital organs in our bodies. They are the sieve that drains our bodies of any toxins that happen to be in our food. However it is not easy to tell when we are damaging them. And what sadly happens is that people usually keep on abusing their kidneys until they fail completely. 1- Smoking is a slow painful way of killing your vital organs, one of which are kidneys. Many studies has linked smoking to kidneys’ deterioration and failing to function. It is understandable since smoking results in the narrowing and hardening of your arteries.
2- The tissues that form our kidneys get renewed while we sleep. Therefore, lack of sleep and poor sleep quality can do a lot of damage to your kidneys.
3- Dehydration is another cause for kidney failure. People make sure to stay hydrated to keep their skin elastic and youthful looking. But did you know that dehydration can damage much more than just your skin? When your body is dehydrated, your kidneys will not be able to get rid of the toxins in your body fast enough and they will stay in your body and keep on damaging it.
4- High sodium levels can cause kidney failure on the long run. Getting rid of salt – which is the basic source of sodium -is a difficult process for the kidneys. So when you consume large quantities of it you damage your kidneys and slowly start forming kidney stones which might lead to kidney failure.
5- Lack of certain nutrients like magnesium and vitamin B6. Deficiency in these important nutrients can prevent the kidneys from processing or extracting calcium and might lead to the formation of kidney stones.
6- Abusing medications is one of the things that can cause kidney failure. Medications ARE chemical compounds which can cause one problem while causing another if not used wisely.
